SIKU YA UKIMWI DUNIANI

Virusi Vya Ukimwi(VVU) inasalia kuwa suala kuu la afya ya umma ambalo linaathiri mamilioni ya watu duniani kote. Katika miaka michache iliyopita maendeleo kuelekea malengo ya VVU yamekwama, rasilimali zimepungua, na mamilioni ya maisha yako hatarini kama matokeo.

Mgawanyiko, tofauti na kutozingatiwa kwa haki za binadamu ni miongoni mwa mapungufu yaliyoruhusu VVU kuwa na kubaki kuwa mgogoro wa afya duniani.

Tarehe 1 Disemba World Health Organization (WHO) inaungana na washirika kuadhimisha Siku ya UKIMWI Duniani 2022, chini ya kaulimbiu “EQUALIZE “. WHO inatoa wito kwa viongozi wa kimataifa na wananchi kutambua kwa ujasiri na kushughulikia ukosefu wa usawa unaorudisha nyuma maendeleo katika kukomesha UKIMWI; na kusawazisha upatikanaji wa huduma muhimu za VVU hasa kwa watoto na makundi muhimu na wapenzi wao – wanaume wanaofanya ngono na wanaume, watu waliobadili jinsia, watu wanaotumia dawa za kulevya, wafanyabiashara ya ngono na watu walio magerezani.

VVU ni virusi vinavyoshambulia mfumo wa kinga. Inaweza kuenea kupitia ngono na njia zingine.
VVU humfanya mtu kukabiliwa na maambukizo mengine. Watu wenye VVU pia wana hatari kubwa zaidi ya kuambukizwa magonjwa mengine ya zinaa. Bila matibabu, uwezekano huu wa kuambukizwa unazidi kuwa mbaya na unaweza kusababisha matatizo ya kutishia maisha.
Mara tu mtu anapokuwa na VVU, virusi hivyo vitakuwepo kwenye majimaji yake ya mwili, ikijumuisha shahawa, damu, maziwa ya mama. Ikiwa maji haya yanaingia kwenye mwili wa mtu mwingine, mtu huyo anaweza pia kuambukizwa VVU.
Hii inaweza kutokea kupitia ngono, sindano za kushiriki, kugusana na ngozi iliyovunjika, kuzaa, na kunyonyesha.
Matibabu yanaweza kupunguza kiwango cha virusi vilivyopo kwenye mwili hadi kiwango kisichoweza kutambulika. Hii ina maana kwamba kiasi cha virusi ndani ya damu ni ndogo sana kwamba vipimo vya damu haviwezi kugundua. Pia ina maana kwamba haiwezi kuenea kwa watu wengine.
Mtu aliye na VVU isiyoweza kutambulika lazima aendelee kufuata mpango wake wa matibabu kama vile daktari anavyoagiza ili kupunguza viwango vya virusi.
Njia zingine za kuzuia maambukizi ni pamoja na:
kutumia kondomu au njia nyingine ya kuzuia mimba wakati wa ngono ya uke au ya mkundu.
kuchukua kizuia “preexposure” ambayo ni dawa ambayo inaweza kusaidia kuzuia VVU kwa watu walio na virusi.
kutoshiriki sindano.
kutumia glavu na kutupa kwa makini, kama vile wakati wa kufanya kazi katika mazingira ya huduma ya afya.
